THE PURSUIT OF PROGRESS

The formal definition of 'progress' is forward or onward movement towards a destination. I've recently learned that life, akin in art, is all about progress- not perfection.

CAN YOU SPARE A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS TODAY?

Right from the moment of our birth, we are under the care and kindness of our parents and then later on in our life when we are oppressed by sickness and become old, we are again dependent on the kindness of others. Since at the beginning and end of our lives we are so dependent on others' kindness, how can it be that in the middle we neglect kindness towards others?

A LIFE LESSON LEARNED FROM GRAPHITE & CHARCOAL

I've recently reconnected with my passion for sketching. Graphite and charcoal mediums are so fun to work with. I love how 'forgiving' they are. They say to us, "Hey, if you make a mistake, that's okay, just pick back up and try again." And how true that is in our every day life? We can't necessarily erase our mistakes in life and pretend they never happened, but we can recognize when we make a mistake, learn from it, and try again. It seems as though most of the greatest lessons we learn in life are a result of mistakes.

Here are two sketches I'm currently working on:

 Graphite on bristol board.

Charcoal on sketch paper.

INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY

I find when I paint/sketch outside, the energy from the Earth gives me a special form of inspiration, and the creativity flows out of me.

EAST AUSTIN STUDIO TOUR (E.A.S.T)
Austin, TX / October 20-21, 2012

I was invited to have an art booth in the Hot Mama's Coffee Shop courtyard for E.A.S.T this year (I participated back in 2010 as well).

Overall, it was a great success. I sold 7 paintings and it helped spread my name out there a little bit! Below are the art pieces that were included in the tour.

If interested in purchasing a painting, please email me. My prices are very fair (which might be why I sold the most paintings out of all the art vendors in the courtyard)! I just want to spread the love of MY love!
Note: If you see something you like that's already sold, please send me a note because I can recreate any of these paintings.

Acrylic paints are my favorite to use. They dry fast, are vibrant, and are easy to mix.
